Today, a parent will be told their child has a critical illness.

We can't change that, but we can give children some respite through a wish.
They wished it, now you can help grant it.

Sebastian is a young Kiwi waiting for his wish.

Critical illness causes so much loneliness. It keeps children in hospital rooms instead of playing at school with their friends. It forces them to be isolated at home, away from other kids their age. It means they spend Christmas alone, away from family to protect their weakened immune systems from bugs and germs.

This was the experience of seven-year-old Sebastian who was diagnosed with a serious blood condition.

Sebastian’s treatment changed life as he knew it. He was pulled out of preschool. Hospital became his second home. The little boy was pricked and prodded countless times over the next few months. He rarely saw his friends.

After spending so much of his life alone, Sebastian’s wish ensures he’ll always have a friend around – even if he has to isolate to protect his immunity. His wish is for a black and brown sausage dog, named Snickers.

Sebastian wished it, will you help grant it?

A small gift can help make Sebastian's wish, and the wishes of other sick Kiwi kids, come true.

There are more children just like Sebastian waiting for their wish to be granted.
Their wish will bring them Christmas magic. Magic they haven't felt since their sickness.

Elliott was diagnosed with biliary atresia at only 5 weeks old. She is waiting for her wish to be granted by Make A Wish New Zealand.

Elliott, Biliary Atresia, "I wish for a campervan road trip."

Tane, Adrenal Gland Tumour, "I wish for a new gaming set-up."

A wish is not a "nice to have."

For a critically ill child, it's a must.

"Make-A-Wish represents so much beyond the beauty of a no-strings-attached gift. It becomes a therapy in itself giving hope for a better day. More than that, it’s something the child has control over. In their world, where so much is taken out of their hands, Make-A-Wish remains their chance to choose, to plan and to dream - often only things the child themselves would think of." -  Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Doctor.
Wishes are so important, but they don't come true on their own. They're granted by people like you.
This Christmas, will you change a sick Kiwi kid's life and grant them their wish?

Illness doesn't stop - not even for Christmas.

We can't take children's sickness and pain away, even though we wish we could.
But we can give them a special wish this Christmas - something hopeful and happy to focus on, during a time that is so dark. Kiwi kids need their wishes.
